Parking Guide for Lucas Oil Stadium Events

Updated March 11, 2026

Colts game, concert, or convention at Lucas Oil? Here's every parking option around the stadium — from official lots to budget garages and tailgating spots.

Pre-book and save: Walk-up parking near Lucas Oil Stadium can hit $40-60 on Colts game days. Reserve a guaranteed spot on SpotHero and save 30-50%.

Official Stadium Lots

Lucas Oil Stadium has several surface lots immediately surrounding the building. These are the closest options but also the most expensive on event days.

South Lot (S. Missouri Street)
Directly south of the stadium. Largest official lot with the most capacity. This is where most drive-up parking happens on game days. Expect $30-50 for Colts games. Opens 3-4 hours before kickoff.
West Lot (off West Street)
Accessible from West Street, closest to the stadium's west entrance. Premium pricing, typically sells out early for Colts games. Good option if you're arriving 3+ hours before the event.
Permit-only lots
Several lots immediately adjacent to the stadium are season ticket holder or permit-only on Colts game days. Don't drive into these expecting walk-up access — you'll be turned away.

Nearby Garages

Downtown garages within a 5-10 minute walk offer better rates than the official lots, especially if you pre-book.

Garage Walk to Stadium Non-Event Rate Notes
Pan Am Plaza 3 min $$$ Closest garage. Between stadium and ICC.
Plaza Park 5 min $35 Good capacity, south side access.
Capitol Commons 5 min $53 Adjacent to ICC. Quick walk south.
Union Station 7 min $18 Best value within 10 min walk.
Circle Centre 10 min $22 Skywalk to ICC, then walk south.
Regions Tower 12 min $4 evenings $4 flat after 4 PM. Unbeatable for evening events.
Best budget move for evening events: Regions Tower Garage charges a flat $4 after 4 PM and on weekends. That's a 12-minute walk to the stadium, but you're saving $40+ compared to official lots. The walk takes you through Georgia Street — stop at a bar on the way.

Street Parking

Sunday games = free meters
All street meters are free on Sundays and city holidays. For Sunday Colts games, this is a genuine option — arrive 2+ hours before kickoff and you can usually find metered spots on South Meridian, South Illinois, or West streets within 10-15 minutes of the stadium.
Weekday/Saturday events
Meters are enforced 7 AM-9 PM (Mon-Sat) at $2-3/hour with 2-3 hour limits. Not ideal for full-day events, but fine if you're arriving for an evening concert after meters stop enforcing at 9 PM.
Watch for event-day restrictions
Some streets around the stadium are posted no-parking on Colts game days and during large concerts. Check signs carefully — towing is aggressive and fast.

Tailgating Parking

Tailgating is a Colts game day tradition, but your options are more limited than at some NFL stadiums.

South Lot — Primary tailgating zone
The South Lot on Missouri Street is where most tailgating happens. It opens 4 hours before kickoff for Colts games. Grills are allowed (charcoal and propane). No glass containers. Expect to pay $40-60 for the spot, but you're getting both parking and a tailgate location.
Private lots on South Street
Several private lots south of the stadium along South Street and Missouri Street sell tailgating-friendly spots. These are often run by independent operators and prices vary. Cash is common. Arrive early — they fill by 2 hours before kickoff.
No tailgating in garages
Garages do not allow tailgating, grills, or extended pre-game hangouts. If you want the tailgate experience, you need a surface lot.

Pre-Game Timing Recommendations

Colts regular season games (1 PM kickoff): Arrive by 10:30 AM for tailgating, 11:30 AM for stress-free garage parking. After noon, close garages start filling and you'll be directed further out.
Evening concerts & events: Arrive 60-90 minutes before doors open. Garages are less competitive for evening events since commuters have already left. Regions Tower at $4 flat is ideal timing.
FFA and multi-day conventions: Sessions start early. Arrive before 8 AM for the best garage availability. Pan Am Plaza is the sweet spot — between Lucas Oil and the ICC for events that use both buildings.
Big Ten Championship / playoff games: These are the most competitive parking days of the year. Pre-book on SpotHero 2+ weeks ahead. Arrive 3 hours before kickoff. Street closures are common around the stadium.

Rideshare Pickup & Dropoff

Designated rideshare zone: The primary Uber/Lyft pickup and dropoff area is on South Capitol Avenue, southeast of the stadium. During Colts games, a second zone operates on South Missouri Street. Follow the signs — these change based on event size.
Post-event surge pricing: Immediately after a Colts game or major concert, expect 2-4x surge pricing for 15-20 minutes. Walk to Georgia Street (5 min north) for a drink, then request your ride once the surge drops.
Pro tip: Request your ride from a block away from the designated zone. The crowd bottleneck at the pickup area means your driver will reach you faster if you walk a block east or west.

IndyGo Bus Routes

Public transit is an underused option for stadium events, but it works well if you're coming from the right direction.

Red Line (BRT)
IndyGo's rapid transit line runs from Broad Ripple through downtown to the University of Indianapolis. The Georgia & Capitol stop puts you a 5-minute walk from Lucas Oil. Buses run every 10-15 minutes. $1.75 fare. Runs until midnight on weeknights, 1 AM Fri/Sat.
Purple Line (BRT)
Runs east-west along Washington Street. The downtown stops on Washington near Meridian are about an 8-minute walk south to the stadium.
Game day shuttles: For some Colts games and major events, IndyGo runs special shuttle services from park-and-ride locations. Check indygo.net for event-specific service.
