The short version: Mandatory team check-in is Thursday March 19, 3–9 PM in Hall F of the Indiana Convention Center — plan your travel to arrive Thursday. Competition runs Friday through Sunday. Book parking in advance. Skip the restaurants immediately next to the Convention Center (huge waits all weekend) and head to Mass Ave or Bottleworks instead.

Check-In and Arrival

The MEQ has a mandatory team check-in requirement — your team cannot compete without checking in first.

Team Check-In: Thursday March 19

Time: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Location: Hall F, Indiana Convention Center
Hall F is accessible directly from the main Convention Center entrance at 100 S Capitol Ave. Follow signage inside — it's a large hall and well-marked on event day.

What you need for check-in

Coaches handle team check-in. Bring your team's roster documentation, player eligibility verifications, and any required paperwork from your club. Check the Capitol Sports Center MEQ website for the current checklist — requirements update annually.

Travel timing matters: Downtown Indianapolis hotels will fill Thursday afternoon as thousands of families arrive simultaneously. If you're driving in, aim to arrive by 2 PM to check into your hotel before the Convention Center gets congested. Thursday evening restaurant waits are long — plan dinner either early (before 5:30 PM) or late (after 8 PM).

Competition Venues

The MEQ is split across two facilities — both are connected to each other and to most downtown hotels via Indianapolis's indoor skywalk system.

Indiana Convention Center

100 S Capitol Ave. The main competition hall. Multiple exhibit halls converted into courts — Hall A through H are all in play. The ICC floor plan is large and complex; grab a map at the entrance and identify your court assignments before wandering. Food options inside are limited and overpriced — plan to eat outside for major meals.

Lucas Oil Stadium

500 S Capitol Ave. Home of the Indianapolis Colts, converted to volleyball courts for the MEQ. Competing inside Lucas Oil is a genuine experience — the stadium floor is laid with temporary courts, the atmosphere is unlike any standard gym. Connected to the Convention Center via indoor walkway. Concessions are available at stadium pricing.

Court assignments: Your match schedule from Capitol Sports Center will specify which hall and court number. ICC halls and Lucas Oil courts are clearly signed on event day, but the ICC is large — give yourself 15 extra minutes the first time you navigate to a new hall.

Hotels and the Stay to Play Policy

The MEQ operates a Stay to Play policy — teams are required to book through the official hotel block managed by Advanced Event Systems (AES). You cannot book independently and expect to comply with the policy.

How to book — Go to advancedeventsystems.com and search for the Nike MEQ 2026 event block. Hotels range from budget options in the suburbs to skywalk-connected properties directly attached to the Convention Center.
Skywalk-connected hotels — The JW Marriott, Marriott, Westin, Conrad, Hyatt Regency, Crowne Plaza, and Sheraton are all connected to the ICC by indoor skywalk. In March weather, this is significant — no coats, no rain, no cold. Worth the premium if you're doing three full days of competition.
Suburban hotels — Many families book in the suburbs (Plainfield, Avon, Greenwood) to save money and get more space. You'll drive in and park each day. Budget $20–40/day for parking. If your player is competing at 7 AM, factor in the commute.
Book as early as possible. The MEQ block typically opens several months before the event and the best downtown hotels sell out quickly. Late bookers end up 20+ minutes from the venues.

Parking

Downtown Indianapolis has plenty of garages, but 38,000 people all need the same parking spots. Pre-booking is the only reliable strategy.

ICC/Lucas Oil South Lot — 601 S Capitol Ave
The closest surface lot to both venues. Fills by 7 AM on competition days. Pre-book only.
Convention Center Lot #3 — 327 S Missouri St
Short walk to the Convention Center entrance. Often has better availability than the South Lot.
Pan Am Plaza Garage — 201 S Capitol Ave
Connected to the skywalk system. Good option if you want to walk dry to the ICC.
Pre-book on SpotHero or ParkWhiz. Walk-up rates are $20–40/day and spaces go fast. Booking online locks your rate and spot — critical for 7 AM matches when you can't afford to drive around looking.

Where to Eat With Your Team

This is where most MEQ families go wrong. Every restaurant within two blocks of the Convention Center is overwhelmed all weekend. The solution: go a little farther.

The Garage Food Hall — Bottleworks District

906 Carrollton Ave (15-minute walk or $8 Uber from ICC). 20+ food vendors under one roof — the best solution for groups with different tastes. Pizza, BBQ, Thai, burgers, tacos, lobster rolls — everyone finds something. No reservation needed, lower waits than anywhere downtown, large communal seating area. The MEQ's best-kept secret for team dinners.

Massachusetts Avenue

10-15 minute walk northeast of the Convention Center. Indy's best restaurant row — Bluebeard, Bakersfield, Rook, Beholder, and a dozen more. Less crowded than the Convention Center corridor because most MEQ families don't walk this far. Makes an excellent team dinner spot if you call ahead.

Near the Convention Center (expect waits)

Yard House, Punch Bowl Social, Buca di Beppo, and Goodfella's Pizzeria are solid choices but expect 45–90 minute waits Friday and Saturday evenings. If you want to eat here, arrive by 5:30 PM or eat after 8:30 PM. Goodfella's and Bazbeaux Pizza are great for the "feed the team fast" situation — call ahead for group orders.

Quick/fast meals between matches

Inside the Convention Center: limited concessions (pizza, pretzels, beverages). One block south on Georgia Street: Jimmy John's, Subway, and a few fast casual spots. These are your fastest in-and-out options between early matches. Grocery run to Kroger on Ohio Street (1 mile) for snacks, drinks, and breakfast items if you have a hotel fridge.

The Skywalk System

Indianapolis has an underground and elevated walkway system that connects most downtown hotels, the Convention Center, and Lucas Oil Stadium. In March — when rain, cold, and wind are all possible — this is your most important logistical tool.

ICC ↔ Lucas Oil Stadium — Directly connected via indoor corridor. No coat, no weather. Competition days, this walkway is heavily trafficked — allow extra time.
Skywalk-connected hotels → ICC — JW Marriott, Marriott, Westin, Conrad, Hyatt Regency, Crowne Plaza, and Sheraton. Wake up, grab coffee, walk to Hall F without going outside. Worth the premium for three cold-weather competition days.
Georgia Street — The street-level outdoor route between Lucas Oil and the ICC is Georgia Street, lined with restaurants and bars. Fine in good weather; the skywalk is faster and dry when it's cold.
March weather warning: Indianapolis in March averages 40–55°F with rain likely. Pack layers and rain jackets for any time you'll be going outside. If you're not in a skywalk hotel, you will be walking outside between parking and the venues.

Tips for MEQ Parents

Arrive Thursday — not Friday morning
Team check-in is Thursday evening. Families who try to arrive Friday morning and go straight to the venue are scrambling. The extra hotel night is worth the stress reduction.
Pre-book parking before you leave home
Open SpotHero or ParkWhiz right now and book your spot for each competition day. You will not find affordable parking walking up on a Friday morning in March.
Grab a venue map at check-in
Hall assignments change. The ICC is large. Get a physical map Thursday evening at check-in and know where your halls are before 7 AM Friday.
Don't eat dinner on Georgia Street at 6 PM
That's when every other MEQ family decides to eat. Go early, go late, or go to Mass Ave and Bottleworks where the waits are shorter.
Wear layers, bring a rain jacket
The venues are cold in the morning (courts need cool air). Outside in March is unpredictable. You'll be going in and out all day.
Use the skywalk whenever possible
If your hotel is skywalk-connected, you can travel between your room, the ICC, and Lucas Oil without ever putting on a coat. That matters on a cold March Sunday morning before a 7 AM match.
